Description:
A perfectly camouflaged and shy winter visitor to the Little Rann Of Kutch in Gujarat is classified as Vulnerable by IUCN. This species has seen rapid population declines over the last few decades owing largely to unsustainable hunting levels and habitat degradation.
Habitat:
Wild Ass Sanctuary encompasses an area of 4953.71 sq. km. of the Little Rann of Kutch, India. It's unique habitat comprises of saline mudflats, marshes, scrub-land and large seasonal wetlands.
Notes:
These shy birds are often found in between areas with thick vegetation, shurbs and bushes. They're difficult to spot due to their camouflage and tough to photograph since they always tend to flee into the bushes upon being spotted.
