how was it before it got red, because the red powder are possibly spores, therefore already matured, after maturing comes decay (blackening). at the google image link do you see some lions mane's getting red !! but its your decision.!!
I don't think it is lion's mane..they are generally whitish..and its brick color, powdery, part fibrous mass. After few weeks, it turned black.
take a look at this : ( http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&safe=off&q=hericium%20erinaceus&psj=1&gs_sm=1&gs_upl=1956l1956l0l3866l1l1l0l0l0l0l138l138l0.1l1l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1194&bih=688&wrapid=tlif132881362850810&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=YxY0T6fLM5KxhAecteTsAQ ), i just remembered this one !!
it reminds me at tyromyces ptychogaster ( http://mycoweb.narod.ru/fungi/Submitted/SJG3/Oligoporus_ptychogaster_1_JS_20060923.jpg ), but i have no idea for a species. Looks ,except of this red sporepowder, also a bit like stemonitis splendes- long hairy BROWN slime mold. No conclusion, i have no idea !! nice find ! have you more pitures.
