Field Notes

Habitat:

Peninsular Florida, except southwestern part inhabited by P. l. marinus, north to extreme southern Georgia; grading into P. l. varius in northwest Florida. Found in wooded areas, wetlands, beaches, and suburban parks.

Notes:

Quite a few raccoons out at the park this morning. There seem to be two small groups (maybe family groups) foraging on the floor and across the trail. They were close to each other but would not tolerate being too close and would tussle with one another every once in a while.
