Description:

50mm long; looks very much like a healthy eucalyptus leaf; very long fine antennae; long legs looking like fresh eucalyptus twigs.

Habitat:

Eucalyptus trees east coast of Australia.

Maybe I shouldn't have whacked him so hard to make him stand still.
You've gotta get him some glasses. Your answer is yes, I think. I imagine this feature of pseudo pupils in compound eyes evolved before phasmids and mantids diverged. I wonder what other species display this feature?
I was wondering martin if it's the same story as the mantis as far as the eyes go.
