@Emma Sad story... The truth is we are expanding way too much, we want perfect gardens, no "pests", no nothing, just perfect totally unnatural grass directly from the shelf, and in doing that we are destroying irreversibly whole habitats... So, still sorry for those people...
I am happy that you do not have any wasp problems. Even if you do it is in no way a reflection of Romania. Times are changing and along with them we are seeing some very surprising behaviors by insects, fungi etc. The other day i shared an article on PN of how fire ants have attacked 10 people in San Francisco and invaded their homes and 3 died out of that. The infant was put into a coma.
@Emma Wasps are treated with a very healthy respect here. They can appear quite often in the attics, but people are very weary when this happens. Everyone knows how they look and what they can do to us, so overall not a big problem, nothing specific to Romania. That article I think is mistakenly put there, it's not about Romania.
Mihail,is wasps a big problem in Romania? http://www.romaniantimes.at/?id=3749 I send you two links. I punched in Wasps in Romania and was able to get some info. The nest does look similar to Vespa crabro.
The body of the wasp and the outside structure of the nest was more like in the links below... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_hornet http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fil:Vespa_crabro_nest.jpg http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:Vespa_crabro_nest_full.jpg

I don't think it's paper wasp, the wasps colors are different.. In this picture is hard to see because you can't make it bigger...
I saw two on the ground. They do fall off trees or are probably discarded.
@Emma I really don't know, it's not in my area. I saw wasp nests with the exterior texture like this, but they were in the ground...
Is this home broken? Paper wasp homes are umbrella shaped like this one , But they have a single layer of very well defined chambers.
Yes... But what kind of wasp?
