Alex, Thanks for your help in identifying this fungus. It's a really pretty little one and I'm glad to know what it is. Could you please take a look at this more recent spotting and see what you think? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/9421016
i really dont think it belongs to the genus crepidotus, actually i think i found an id for your spotting.Take the widely spaced gills (some gills are also:split, then unregular, the fragile/milky-glassy cap,the stalk (which already is darker at the base)= all together found here ----> ( http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/DisplayBlock~bid~6388.asp ),( http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&gs_nf=1&cp=21&gs_id=3&xhr=t&q=marasmiellus+candidus&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1110&bih=688&wrapid=tljp133146313723200&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=5oNcT-0P6NDRBcSaueUN ), ( http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Marasmiellus_candidus.html ), ( http://www.mycobank.org/MycoTaxo.aspx?Link=T&Rec=109060 ), ( http://www.mushroomexpert.com/marasmius.html ), ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marasmiellus )
I don't think it is a marasmius, Alex. The short stems as well as the cap upside down leads validly to the possibility of Crepidotus genus. But still a suggest only...so it's up to you, Donna ;)
genus : marasmius. -- and i advance, i should not be the marasmius rotula, but i relativ sure that it belongs to the marasmius or marasmiellus mushrooms. good luck
