Field Notes
Description:
The yellow-tailed black cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus) is a large cockatoo native to the south-east of Australia measuring 55–65 cm (22–26 in) in length.
I was alerted that this beautiful bird was in the garden by, as Wiki says, "a loud eerie wailing call'! Raucous, I would call it, and so loud!
The yellow-tailed black cockatoo has yellow cheeks, a yellow band on the tail and the body feathers are also edged with with yellow. In 2 weeks, I only saw it in the garden once.
Habitat:
Urban garden
