Signature Spider
Argiope luzona
15.456, 119.92
Field Notes
Description:
Argiope luzona (Walckenaer, 1842). My interest in Argiope spiders compels me to find out everything, that I can, about them, including what they eat. It is often very frustrating when I can't see what is being eaten because it is wrapped in spider silk. This time, the prey is not covered in silk, but is still not identifable, but nobody said it was going to be easy to learn about Argiope luzona :-)
Habitat:
This spider was spotted in the front yard of the rice mill. Its web was moored on the stems of a Blushing Philodendron (Philodendron erubescens), a climbing plant, growing on the trunk of a Mango Tree.
