Field Notes

Description:

Growing in a tidy looking coniferous woodland, 4-5cm across the cap and 7-8cm tall. Seeming to grow from the ground, I guess there could have been a buried pinecone it was growing from. The stem was tough-ish but easy to split along the length. I'm very unsure on the ID because of the habitat; M. megaspora is described as growing on heaths and in spagnum moss: http://www.first-nature.com/fungi/mycena-megaspora.php
