Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized and slender duck, some 50cm in length. Breeding male predominantly light grey in color, with finely striped below, dark bill and dark, almost black tail. Female look alike mallard female.

Habitat:

Seen on a small lake at the base of Jura mountain range, at Divonne-les-bains. Outskirts of urban setting, but maintained lake and park around; still very close to protected forest and marshes area. Area just in between the Jura mountains and Geneva lake (Leman).
