Field Notes

Description:

Gray-brown body with light colored diamonds down the back. The area before the tail is black, which is where they get their name from.

Habitat:

This was as found, just hanging out on a cloudy, rainy day trying to soak up the sun rays it could. In the desert, on the side of a mountain.

Notes:

This used to be considered C. molossus, but was split apart and only C. ornatus is found in Texas now.
