Description:

This is a very interesting plant we found. It has a similarity to a peach.

It is edible. Folks around here call it dogwood fruit. It makes a tasty cocktail.
It is from the genus of Morinda (Rubiaceae), but I don't know what is the exact species. Similar species might be Morinda pubescens, but its not native to North America.
