Field Notes

Description:

Size 2.2 m. Weight 320 kg. Height 1 m.
Small trunk in the snout.
short and rough horsehair along the nape.
Forelimbs with 4 toes and hindlimbs with 3. They walk on their hooves.
Bad eyesight but excelent sense of hearing and smell.

Habitat:

Amazon rainforest. Solitary but they congregate in breeding season in the mammal claylicks, specially near creek beds and swamps with dense brush.
