Description:

Lycoperdon perlatum, popularly known as the common puffball, warted puffball, gem-studded puffball, or the devil's snuff-box, is a species of puffball fungus in the family Agaricaceae.

Habitat:

growing in leaf litter beside a path in cool temperate rainforest, around 1000 meters. Springbrook National Park

thanks Michel. I've uploaded that name on Mushroom Observer with your comment. Lets see if we get a confirmation.
These could be closer to Lycoperdon molle, since the 'gems' don't leave clear scars on the exoperidium (outer skin) when they are wiped off. http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20p?see=I_MWS30254&res=640
Nice find. I don't think I've ever seen a cluster like this before.
