Description:
About 15 meters, Grey slate like colour, two blowholes, lots of scars and patches on their skin. The gray whale also lacks a dorsal fin, instead bearing 6 to 12 dorsal crenulations ("knuckles"), which are raised bumps on the midline of its rear quarter, leading to the flukes. This is known as the dorsal ridge. See picture 4

Seeing several individuals on our trip, one surfaced and stayed and went down and surfaced and stayed as if she was inviting us to come closer, which we did and she then swam under our boat nearly touching the bottom of the boat. SOOOOO Exciting! This Bahia is known for mothers giving birth and "presenting" their babies to small boats, why nobody knows. We were a bit too early in the season for that, the babies were still a bit too small and mother too careful. We did see some from a distance. My camera had a slow picture taking speed :-/
