Description:

ID by nigel.brennan - thankyou ... :)
Body length is about 4cm with a very long 'strands banners'. IT'S NOT A LONG EXPOSURE MOVEMENT TRAIL, they're the dorsal and anal fin. Pectoral fins were round and thick, looked like leaves, Pelvic fins were quite long and splitted. Colour: silver - turquoise - royal blue - metallic light green. Surprisingly, it's a very fast swimmer.

Notes:

Found this 'fantasyland' fish at the surface eating some water bugs in a similar way as a gold fish. It was dark (19:30hrs), could not focus my camera properly.

Yep ... Royal Motor Yacht Club berth No. 74 to be precise :) I touched it's fin and whoooz ... it went down in a flash.

Is the map accurate? Pittwater marina? I'm thinking maybe an escaped pet ! :) Otherwise I'm not very knowledgeable about fish. It certainly is a mysterious looking thing. Did it seem healthy and moving well?

Argybee, you've got to help me with this one :) Do you think it's a juvenile one? I went to the same spot at the same time everyday, no luck :(

S Frazier, I had a good 5 minutes to observe this fish, it's truly amazing. So gracious and sort of glowing in the dark, too!
