Description:

The gymnophthalmid lizard genus Micrablepharus Dunn, 1932 currently comprises two species, M. maximiliani (Reinhardt and Lutken, 1861) and M. atticolous Rodrigues, 1996.This species is diurnal and have fossorial habits, living in the leaf-litter or open ground (Rodrigues 2003), and can also be found inside termite nests (Mesquita et al. 2006).

Habitat:

Micrablepharus maximiliani is widespread distributed in South America, with records for Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, Cerrado, and Pantanal in Brazil,
and Humid Chaco in Paraguay (Rodrigues 1996).
