Field Notes

Description:

Maybe a variety of Kelp. This seaweed plant, still with it's roots, was washed up on the shore at Phillip Island. When the tide went out it revealed numerous rock pools where seaweed was either growing or trapped by the tide.

Habitat:

Seen washed up on the beach on a rocky shoreline along the southern coast of Australia.

Notes:

Probably some sort of kelp.
