Field Notes

Description:

This pair were mating and depositing eggs in a small pond which had formed after some heavy rain. I'm not sure on the species so any suggestions would be great.

Amy, This is a very nice photograph. I was struck very much by how much they look like our North American Common Green Darners (Anax junius). Nice... I've taken the liberty of removing this spotting from the two missions in question. There are occasional glitches in the system and I don't know why you couldn't remove them, but those things happen once in a while. Let me know if you have any questions.

I hadn't actually intended it to be part of that mission, as you can see it is also in 'African cats', for some reason it selected all my missions and I am not able to remove it from them.

Hello. I appreciate your interest in the mission http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8176... however this picture does not show any parental care (and even implied egg deposition is not the same as brooding behaviour/parental care). Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion taka, I think you're probably right although it's very difficult to tell from the images on that site. I have no idea to species level. :-)

Anax ephippiger looks a lot like it, but there are many Anax-species, so I am not sure. http://observado.org/soort/info/618
