Description:

Crab spider found on deck railing. Tip of index finger for scale. It was tiny!

Habitat:

Rural deciduous area, Clermont County

I was tentatively thinking Thomisidae, but I'm not very familiar with that family so I didn't want to presume. Glad someone else agrees! Xysticus looks pretty close judging by the BG pictures, so I'm happy to stick with that for now. Thanks!
This looks a lot like one of the Ground Crab Spiders from Genus Xysticus. They can be VERY difficult to get down to species. Here is a link: http://bugguide.net/node/view/6750
We have lots of N. crucifera around here...this was MUCH smaller and different color/body than the ones we usually get. Maybe a juvenile? http://bugguide.net/node/view/28154
Looks like a Neoscona crucifera female
