Description:
Adult scissor-tail.
Habitat:
Open country along roadsides. Migratory. Spends winters south of US/Mexico border, and in southern Florida.
Notes:
Consume large numbers of insects which can be harmful to crops.
They are monogamous and solitary nesters. Eggs are white with red, olive, grey and brown blotches.
Male tail is longer than female.
State bird of Oklahoma.
Large groups are called a 'pinking', a 'snip' or a 'zipper'.
