Description:
A common chameleon in Kwazulu Natal, this species is so called due to the fold of skin at the base of the neck. At rest this lays flat as seen in the photos but when threatened these flaps can be raised up to make the animal appear larger to their opponent. They are able to change colour like many chameleon species helping them to display mood and help with thermoregulation.
Habitat:
Forest, bush, grassland and savannah.
Notes:
These photographs are of three different individuals of the same species. All were different sizes and colourations.
