Thanks Liam, we had heard a woodpecker calling a few times but could not see it, on this day we heard it again from the caravan, looked out the door and there it was. There might have been two but I didn't get a good look at the other, but this one stayed around for quite a while and eventually came out into the open. First one I have ever seen.
Nice spotting! One of my favorite of your birds across the pond.
