Lovely shot of a gorgeous Iris! Based on what you say, it looks like Patricia nailed it. As far as I can find Iris prismatica and I.versicolor are the two species native in Maine and it's too slender and delicate for the later.
it's similar to "Iris prismatica" but I'm not sure....did you found it in the wild?
