Triphyllozoon inornatum
6.92653, 125.678
Field Notes
Description:
A colony of tiny, microscopic-celled animals that live in soft, membranous cells. Minute tentacles protrude from an opening to catch plankton.
Habitat:
Found in coral reefs attached to overhangs, walls, coral or other invertebrates, at depths of 15 to 45m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.
Notes:
I see this a lot in these parts. I spotted this particular specimen at a depth of about 50 feet, attached to a sponge. You can clearly make out the outstretched tentacles in the 2nd photo.
