Field Notes

Description:

Two specimens, one living and one found dead. Very large beetle approx 2"-2.5" in length not including antennae. Dark brown-black in color. Appears to have wings under split shell on back. The living specimen was slow moving, however it may have been poisoned.

Habitat:

High Desert field. Found in Las Vegas, NV on the West side of the valley. Near Desert Inn and Decatur.
