If I had to guess from online references, I would say nymph of a Large Brown Mantid (Archimantis latistyla): http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_mantids/BrownMantids.htm If you scroll down to the middle of the page, there are some nymph shots that look very similar. Take a look at the Ootheca (egg cases) as well since I think they look similar to one of your spottings.
This is a praying mantis, a member of the insect order Mantodea. I do not know the species :-)
