@Martinl,thanks again:-)i love this tree to,very common in Portugal since the final 19 century, althouth the invasive problem[very serious in the national park(we only have one, imagine our size:),it was there that in the final 19 century that was intoduced],we dont have the beetles to contole them, even so it's allways a a great joy when the first Acacias flowering. @Celine here people call it Mimosa to,it's a fantastic tree and in flowering is top 10
Martin, i've spent quite bit of time in sout WA, and the shark touthed Acacia flowering there, reminded me my home Mimosa ! I was actually involved in a dieback project there : still lots to do to save your biodiversity endangered !
we call it Mimosa in France, beautifull smell when it's flowering, my favorite. I've an acacia tree like this, as big as an oak tree in the garden. But if you cut it, it's roots will spread very quickly indeed.
A widespread native Australian plant. When scattered in the forest, Acacia trees are bright yellow in August and September looking absolutely spectacular. We have many insect predators of this pant (Beetles) causing regular dieback.
