Field Notes

Description:

The Nessus Sphinx (Amphion floridensis) is a day-flying moth of the Sphingidae family. It lives throughout the eastern United States and Canada and occasionally down into Mexico, and is one of the more commonly-encountered day-flying moths in the region, easily recognized by the two bright yellow bands across the abdomen.

The wingspan is 37-55 mm.[2] Adults are on wing Aprilto July in one generation in the north and in two generations in the south.[3] The adults feed on the nectar of various flowers, including Syringa vulgaris, Geranium robertianum, Kolkwitzia amabilis, Philadelphus coronarius, and Phlox.

The larvae feed on Vitis, Ampelopsis and Capsicum species

no problem, I will be glad to, but will have to wait until tonight, Thanks to everyone who always helps me with the IDs
In this case, I apologize you have to redo your excellent and detailed notes on your spotting...
ok so I need to change the id on it? no problem, I only went with the original ID given to me , I seldom will make the initial ID on anything I post, leaving it to you guys the experts Thanks
Macroglossum is an Eurasian species and not found in the US. I only know Amphion floridensis with these typical 2 white stripes and spots. It is a also a small Spingidae.
The second photo is great (you might consider moving it to the first position).
