Description:
Established tree strangling a Cabbage Palm (Sabal palmetto).
Tree starts off as an epiphyte on host until roots contact the ground. Then, the fig will rapidly outgrow and swallow up the host. Can become quite a large tree over time.
Habitat:
Caribbean, Mexico, Central America. Florida is its northern range.
