Field Notes

Description:

I was in my yard and heard it fly by my ear, it wasn't the typical buzz of an insect, it was a weird hum like sound. It flew from behind me, curved around the front of my face and landed on my wooden fence. It was roughly an inch long both ways, body and wings are thin and twig like in appearance, Im assuming the wings must have been rolled up into a twig like appendage while resting as they were just as thin from the front view that I was ready to get a picture of but the critter flew off just before I took the pic, :( and it was so quick that I could not see any wings as it flew off. :( It didn't move not even a bit while it was station. The last picture is the original pic I took, the first two are "zoom ins" of the first pic. In the last picture you can make a size comparison with the nail holes in the fence. Feel free to ask for any other info.

Habitat:

Unknown

Notes:

I'd appreciate any info on this little guy as in the whole of my 51 year in and around the tristate area I have NEVER seen this critter before! and that's weird as I have been SUPER LUCKY at having once in a life time sightings
