Field Notes

Description:

Small fly with a long, slender abdomen. Predominantly dark coloration with red eyes. Wings mostly dark with translucent half circles on the outer margin. This species has a lot of variation of wing patterning.

Habitat:

Flowering shrubs bordering temperate forest and grassy trail. Gardiner County Park, New York.
