The bat was not 8-10 inches, it was actually very small but I am not sure if this was an adult or not. I did not remember to measure him but he looked about 3-5 inches long. I found him hanging in my fort, paralyzed or he was dead, I'm not sure.
Hard to tell the size from the shots but the ears, nose and colouration look like it could be a 'big brown bat' Eptesicus fuscus. They are 6-8cm in body length. :)
