The only other similar looking one I remember is Leotia viscosa but L. viscosa is more gelatinous and the stems of yours don't seem as shiny

Very cool find! and maybe quite a rare one, at least rare to find because easily overlooked!? It looks similar to Cordyceps capitata and C. longisegmentis, if you dug it out it might be growing on a false truffle Elaphomyces sp. http://www.first-nature.com/fungi/cordyceps-capitata.php
