Description:

Paphiopedilum dayanum is a species of orchid endemic to Mount Kinabalu on Borneo.

Habitat:

Elevation: 300-1450 m
Ecology: commonly between tree roots on serpentine cliffs
Mean Temperature Range: 10-22°C
Light: moderately deep shade

Notes:

Leaves: 4-6, up to 21 cm long, 5 cm wide, mottled dark and yellow-green
Inflorescence: 1-flowered, 20-34 cm long, maroon, densely purple-pubescent
Bloom: up to 18 cm wide
