Field Notes

Description:

Small evergreen tree or large bush with small oval leaves. Cones grow on the stems in round clusters. Inflorescence is purple (second image taken on 05/14/2012). "It usually ranges between 2 metres and 3 metres in height and has elliptical leaves that are about 2 cm long. The purple flowers, which appear from spring to mid-summer, are in globular clusters which are about 2.5 cm in diameter." - Wikipedia

Habitat:

Along trail in mixed chaparral. This plant is endemic to an area near Albany in Western Australia.
