Field Notes

Description:

hunched heron; brownish-buff and cryptic at rest; reveals bright white wings and tail in flight; br. adult plain buff above and below, with some dark streaking on the head; a dark tipped blue bill.

Habitat:

common on range of well vegetated water from coastal mangroves to small highland fresh water pools.
