Description:

Also referred to as Chaetodon madagaskariensis, and also known as Merten's Butterflyfish, Yellowback Butterflyfish and Chevron Butterflyfish.

They feed on coral polyps, tentacles of featherdusters and Christmas-tree worms. They grow to a length of about 12.5cm.

Habitat:

Found singly but more often in pairs in lagoons and outer slopes with large coral formations, at depths of 10 to 120m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.
