Calocera viscosa
53.2941, -1.98803
Field Notes
Description:
Fruiting bodies were up to 3cm tall max. Growing on wood in a felled coniferous area that also had occasional deciduous trees. It's easy to identify from similar species since it's the only one that grows on wood; always coniferous wood. Yellow Stagshorn is considered edible and can be used to add colour to salads although it's gelatinous texture isn't considered appealing on it's own! It is quite common and widespread here in the UK
Habitat:
Grows on dead coniferous wood and roots, often poking up from the ground and so the substrate isn't readily identifiable.
