Description:

This wide-ranging species (southeastern Europe and North Africa to Japan and south to Australia and Micronesia) occupies a broad range of slow flowing and still water habitats, from ponds to wet rice fields and marshes. It is very tolerant of disturbance.

Habitat:

Spotted in a large semi-urban yard and garden adjacent to a disturbed patch of remnant forest.
