Field Notes

Description:

The Chickweed Geometer (Haematopis grataria) is a species of moth of the Geometridae family.
The wingspan is 20–25 mm. Adults are on wing from May to October. It is a day-flying species.
The larvae feed on various low-growing plants, including Stellaria, Polygonum and clover.

I personally have noticed that Chickweed Geometers have one distinct pink line through the middle forewings and another on the bottom forewing. I have also noticed a pink spot on each forewing. I am not sure if this is a scientifically proven theory, though.

Habitat:

It is found throughout the United States. In Canada it is found from Quebec to Alberta, north to the Northwest Territories.

Notes:

Cream colored moth with subtle pink stripe.
