Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Bluelips Angelfish, Flagfin Angelfish and Flagfish. Adults are identified by their blue lips.

They feed on coral polyps, tentacles of featherdusters and Christmas-tree worms. They grow to about 26cm in length.

Habitat:

Found singly or sometimes in pairs in lagoons and shallow reefs over reef crests and slopes with deep dropoffs, at depths of 5 to 60m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.
