Description:

large whitish mushroom with a vague resemblance to cauliflower

Habitat:

collected in Lane Co., Oregon

Fruiting Body: 10-60 cm broad; composed of tightly packed branches which arise from a common basal structure (which measures up to 30 cm long, tapering into the ground); branches fairly short and tightly packed, thin, whitish to yellowish or tan, evenly colored. Spore Print: Whitish.

They generally grow on wood, such as fir, but this had been collected for display so I can't say for sure what this one was on. I've not been lucky enough to find one in quite a while.
