Field Notes

Description:

Hemlock tree with evidence of wooly adelgid infestation. The white tufts are egg sacs that will hatch larvae in the spring.

Habitat:

Upland forest in the Wolf Hill conservation land, Smithfield, RI.

Notes:

Hemlock was part of an upland oak forest. Few other hemlocks were seen.
