Monarch Caterpillar

Danaus plexippus

I live in New Zealand, you only see them in spring and summer.
We take the caterpillars in with some milkweed plants and keep feeding them milkweed until they turn into a chrysalis and finally in to a butterfly, when we release them. Only 1/10 survive in the wild due to inclement weather, etcetera.
