Field Notes

Description:

A green-spotted triangle caterpillar, 1st instar

Habitat:

On unidentified plant in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed patch of remnant forest.

Notes:

While I usually encounter this caterpillar on soursop/sirsak (Annona muricata), this plant is different.

Species ID Suggestions

Caterpillar of Tailed Jay (2nd instar)

Graphium agamemnon

Tailed Jay or Green Triangle

Graphium agamemnon or G. macfarlanei

Comments (4)

The early instars of these two closely related species are VERY similar (likewise, G. wallacei might also be a possibility).
