Field Notes

Description:

Large waterbird similar to the Cormorant.
These birds must dry their wings between dives, as their feathers are not waterproof, like those of ducks.

Habitat:

Warm shallow watery areas in the Americas.
Spotted here in Tampa, Florida.

Notes:

This spotting was from the shore of Lake Behnke on the USF Campus and the grounds of the USF Botanical Gardens. One of my favorite places.
