Field Notes

Description:

This frogs scientific name is hyla femoralis. They are also known as a pine woods tree frog. These amphibians can range in color from a reddish brown to a brownish grey color and get up to 4 cm in length. They breed from the month of June to the end of September.

Habitat:

Pine woods tree frogs can be found in temperate forests, swamps, intermittent freshwater lakes, and intermittent freshwater marshes. These frogs can climb up to 30 feet or they can be found under rotting logs.

This frog was found in my porch at night. I live near a pond so frogs are always around.
