Field Notes

Description:

A medium sized robust spider with a very rough appearance resembling the bark of certain trees. They are usually approx. 40mm spread. They often choose to nest in the hollow of a lost tree branch which has formed a shallow circular dent.

Habitat:

Very coarse barked trees such as casuarina, some pines, some acacia, not often on eucalyptus. This one is on a casuarina (Casuarina obesa?)

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

It's named very well. How perfectly it blends into the Casuarina. (I was going to call it a cork oak until I read your ID for the tree.)
