Description:

Many of the trees in the floodplain showed this kind of damage to the bark, some of the wounds were >3' above the ground. Some of the scrapes were fresh wounds and some looked like animals visited the same wounds year after year, creating bigger bigger scars.

Habitat:

deciduous trees in a river floodplain
